Oh my! I’m falling behind on the summaries! The Phoenix Spotlight took a look at Hologram #3, and I introduced the key plot threads of the story arc. That was a Saturday, and I had a bit of time on Sunday to sharpen up some promotional videos for Phoenix zines. Here they are: More surelyContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of May 11-17”

Fanzineist Vienna (??) 2024
OK, so it’s not SPACE. But my grand plans for SPACE fell by the wayside when my wife fell ill, leaving me to chaperone my eldest at the National Geography Bee in Washington, DC. (Which wasn’t ALL bad, as I got to check out Fantom Comics on Dupont Circle.) And lest you think that I’mContinue reading “Fanzineist Vienna (??) 2024”
3 new promo videos
(Because “ads” sound so cheap!) Yup, I put together brief promo clips to slip into the FANzine Live videos. We’ll start with Strange Times 5, which I had made previously but added a couple audio tracks… And then there’s Hologram, which was a fun challenge in that trying to capture a currently-incomplete series in lessContinue reading “3 new promo videos”
FANzine Live: Week of May 4-10
A relatively normal (Is there such a thing?) week at FANzine Live. The Phoenix Spotlight took a look at Hologram #2 and started truly telling the tale of our protagonist Joe. It was Free Comic Book Day on the 4th, so I put together a video to highlight my haul. World’s Greatest Comics really putsContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of May 4-10”
FANzine Live: Week of April 27-May 3
Slowly getting back in the normal swing of things post-SPACE (Yes, still bummed out that I couldn’t get there this year…), The Phoenix Spotlight closed out the SPACE-centric releases with FANzine Two (mixtape), my ode to the music I love. For the New Releases video, I took a look at the entertaining Shogun Bear inContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of April 27-May 3”
FANzine Live: Week of April 20-26
It was the genuine SPACE week as the show opened on April 27. So while a little of the “SPACE WEEK” branding dropped off, the content reflected material and people to be enjoyed at SPACE. (And while I personally was unable to attend, I hope everyone who did had a great show!) The Phoenix SpotlightContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of April 20-26”
Best laid plans…
Sigh. I was going to record a video but am out of time. My family has a virus running through, and my wife’s version involves all sorts of respiratory distress. She was to take my eldest to Washington, DC to compete in the National Geography Championships, but the doctor won’t let her fly/travel. So IContinue reading “Best laid plans…”
Check out the Spring/Summer Phoenix Productions catalog!
It’s that time of year…around six months since the last catalog was published. And I have a few more zines to share, so it was time for a fresh look. My graphic design skills are slowly improving, so this time I thought I’d play with a faux tabloid look, and toss in some color. YouContinue reading “Check out the Spring/Summer Phoenix Productions catalog!”
FANzine Live: Week of April 13-19
a.k.a. SPACE Week! Three videos celebrating all things related to the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo, to be held on April 27 and 28 at the Rhodes Center on the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. It’s a GREAT show, and I hope to see everyone there! The Phoenix Productions Spotlight offered an overviewContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of April 13-19”
FANzine Live: Week of April 6-12
Another week, another three videos! The Phoenix Productions Spotlight took us back to the start of the Phoenix revival… The New Releases entry dipped into the world of crowdfunding with an eclectic anthology. Our most watched zine video yet, and not by a little… And the Classic Zine was a goodie, the technically brilliant andContinue reading “FANzine Live: Week of April 6-12”
