#HumpdayHutchinsons – King Meathead

Today’s #HumpdayHutchinsons comes at an interesting moment. We’ve basked in the glory of the great reviews on Joe’s Comix: WILD KINGDOM and diverted into some of the brothers’ non-minicomic material (here and here). We’ve previewed the forthcoming Phoenix Masters minicomics line…but the official debut is a little over a week away at Zinecinnati, so it makes sense to hold on the big launch for another 7 days.

So let’s dive back into the stacks!

Here’s a classic minicomic from…1985? 1986? Who knows, there’s no date on this one. (And Poopsheet Foundation doesn’t even have it listed!) But why let that get in the way? Let’s enjoy!

Ah yes, all is well. Heh.

You’ll notice that this is a straight scan of the original minicomic. 1980s photocopying was notoriously unforgiving, as the smeared edges suggest. And Joe used pretty big margins on his work! Not the end of the world, though, as the cartooning still shines through. And it was only fifty cents (and a $.22 first class stamp!).

Does Joe’s awesome cartooning entertain you? If so, might I offer a couple suggestions while you wait for the Phoenix Masters minicomics to drop?

Meet the Hutchinsons is a prime sampler of Joe and Daryl Hutchinson’s work — both past and present. You can grab it here.

Or perhaps you want to take the deep dive into Joe Hutchinson craziness? Might I suggest Joe’s Comix: WILD KINGDOM (which got a great review in Broken Frontier…!)?

How about a sneak peek? There’s a video for that…

Phoenix Masters minicomics coming soon!
