As readers surely are aware, Phoenix Productions is both a (very small) publishing house and host of an ongoing YouTube video channel, FANzine Live.
I don’t write about FANzine Live as much as I probably should on this site because, well, I spend most of my time doing FANzine Live everywhere else. Creating and producing (these days) four videos a week is a lot, and I’d like to spend my time talking about other projects like Strange Times, Heroes Now and the incredible Phoenix Masters.
But… (and there’s always a but!)

Brian Canini was kind enough to clue me in to the fact that the Eisner Award-winning team of Greg + Fake were rolling through Columbus for a stop at The Laughing Ogre comic shop and the Billy Ireland Museum on their fall tour to promote their Santos Sisters Volume 2 collected edition from Fantagraphics. Perhaps I would want to see about bringing them onto FANzine Live, he asked?
With a couple messages and a phone conversation with the very cool Lauren from the Ogre, we were set. Greg + Fake were set to do a First Person video!
Here it is:
Like so many things that I do in this wild semi-job/hobby, I don’t necessarily go out looking for opportunities like this. However, I’m thrilled when they happen and am so grateful to share Greg + Fake, in their own words, sharing their work with the world. They’re really cool guys with their dry sense of humor and insights on their characters and comics. Enjoy the video!
Thanks again to Greg + Fake for making time to sit down. It’s a different type of video – not an interview but rather just letting the creators talk about their creations. You guys were terrific sports.
