It’s time to start planning the next big anthology issue of Strange Times, and the theme of this issue will be “The Road Back”.
We’re talking about the road. The literal road home. The road to recovery. The chain gang doing time along the side of the road. The road to reestablishing one’s roots. The stories that come on the open road. The road to rebuilding relationships. Stories of struggle and triumph. Or maybe of failure.
This issue will be offered much in the same vein as Strange Times #2, with a number of contributors offering their unique perspectives and insights. Comic/sequential art, prose stories, illustrations…if it works on a page, I’ll consider it…but the special sauce of Strange Times #2 was the personal touch, the introspection and emotion. When forced to choose between alternatives, I likely will tend toward that. Not necessarily autobiography, but definitely insightful work.

Technical specifications and submission guidelines:
- Page size is 8″x10.5″
- Full color is available but, as seen in Strange Times #2, not necessary
- Page count is negotiable
- Contributors will need to provide a personal photo or illustration of themselves
- Contributions can be made on paper (I will scan) or via 300+ DPI digital image in JPG, PNG or TIF format
- Contributors give Tom Fellrath d/b/a Phoenix Productions the right to reprint the contributed material as part of the zine or as excerpts for promotional purposes. Otherwise, contributors retain ownership of their work.
- Submission deadline is roughly Labor Day, September 4, 2023.
- Contributors will receive two complete copies of the book upon release, with more copies negotiable for larger submissions.
I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. If you have any questions, please let me know!

But wait, you shout. What of Strange Times #3? Glad you asked. It’s nearing completion! I have a fantastic and totally unique artist spotlight in the works. More news on that once we finalize it and get it to the printer.
