I thought I’d try to stretch my drawing muscles and do a bit of AI-assisted light lifting myself this issue. Joe’s miserable and lonely, so he hits the dusty trail and goes sightseeing. Will he find what he’s looking for?
It’s a double-sized issue, one made easier by Midjourney AI. I used Midjourney to create the scenes that I wanted, then I used tracing paper, a scanner and Photoshop to draw Joe (and the dog in one page) into the scenes. In a way, it’s like the guys who paint pop culture icons into thrift shop paintings:
This issue isn’t as grand as that guy’s work (nor am I anywhere near as talented), but it’s the same basic idea. Some pages work better than others, but overall it was a fun experiment in what truly is an experimental comic.
