The most amazing review of Strange Times #2

Being a member of the United Fanzine Organization co-op is a joy. Honest, it is. At it’s core, it does two things: 1. Provides a vehicle for members to mutually promote each others’ works, and 2. Through sharing complimentary copies of our works, give members a platform through the Tetragrammaton Fragments newsletter to review the material that crosses their desks.

The 270th issue of T-Frags, as some of us call it, hit my mailbox today. You know, the issue with the 2023 UFO Awards – a.k.a. The Saucers. Chairman Steve Keeter did a great job assembling the zine, and you can order yourself a copy by emailing him.

Past that, though, I was pleasantly surprised to see a couple fresh reviews of the last pair of Phoenix Productions publications. Surprised is an understatement when you look at this review of Strange Times #2 by Joe Ely Carrales III:

WOW.

First, thank you to Joe for the review. It should go without saying that it’s clear he read and considered the entire zine, but I’ll say it anyway because that’s always appreciated.

More important, however, is the respect given to each and every creator who made Strange Times #2 such a wonderfully diverse zine. I’m going to make a point to share this review with each and every one of them.

Lastly, Joe wisely latched onto why I labeled the zine “for mature readers”. There’s no XXX-rated sex. There’s no blood and violence. There is, however, some very mature discussion of adult subject matter; I only felt it fair to add the tag to forewarn those who were looking for a silly little comic book. Joe clearly got what I was trying to do…and the rest of the UFO reviewers did, too.

Anyway, it’s hard to see such a great review and not share it. Hope you enjoyed. I sure did!!
