Danny Ferbert of Electric Transit offered up a review of The Collected Cranium Frenzy by Steve Willis Reader in the Prog: 09:12:25 print edition…
This book gives ya a taste of what’s to offer from Steve Willis’s Cranium Frenzy that Phoenix Productions has collected in to several volumes. The book starts with an introduction to all of the different characters that may come up with in the comics before it gets in to the 1st volume of comics: 1981-1990.

It begins with comics about death and sex and a day in the life of Morty the Dog. Then Morty jumps through a mirror like Alice and ends up in a world where unless he’s wearing the rose colored glasses they have everyone wear he’s dead. Morty breaks a lens and sees why they make people wear the glasses, so they won’t see the truth.

The book then goes in to an interview with Steve Willis from New Wave! The Underground Mini Comic of the 1980s conducted by Rick Bradford in 2009 before getting in to volume 2: 1994-2023, Volume 3 is: 2023-2024, and Volume 4: more of 2024. It’s amazing seeing how prolific Steve Willis has been. The comics are funny and sometimes auto-bio or about a subject that Steve explored through his characters. Steve’s art is completely his own style and it looks like it’s made to put out a lot of material. If you’re in to comics about deep funny thoughts check out Steve Willis.
