Let’s welcome Power Comics Hall of Famer and close friend of Phoenix Productions, Mr. Tony Lorenz, to the art board for Hologram!
Why and how, you ask? Well, it was a convergence of two things: 1) I quickly realized that I was in over my head, artistically speaking, and that I couldn’t use AI to get myself out of this jam, and 2) Tony and I were chatting, and he was looking to draw something I had written! With that, the last three issues of the Counting the Days arc are in his capable hands…and that’s a great thing considering what happens in the final quarter of this 12-issue story.
Issue 10 is all about the “homefront” (hence the chapter title). Joe dallies around with a White House offer, but his return home finds his marriage with Maggie on much rockier ground than he ever imagined. We play with narrative conventions on this issue to drive it home.
Also, I’m trying out the use of transparency/”acetate” overlays on the physical covers. The effect is interesting. Look for more of that, and the rest of the story, at the FANzine Live Phoenix Spotlight video on Saturday.
