I know… I’ve been derelict with maintaining the site. I worked a little on it over the weekend, pairing the FANzine Live Phoenix Spotlight videos with their accompanying entries in the Library tab. So that’s done.
And I’m woefully behind on weekly recaps. Those aren’t the most difficult to assemble, but they take time…and I’m finding that my kids are requiring more (Dad taxi) time as they get older. Throw in the actual videos themselves, which are a top priority to keep on schedule, and work on my upcoming zines (more on that later), and the recaps are the first casualty of my workload in this cottage industry of mine.
But zines? Zines, you say? Yes! In addition to the 100+ videos since March, I’ve been working on a couple new zines. One is all but done, Strange Times 6:

I’m going the “Creator Spotlight” this time, featuring the amazingly talented Keith Newsome. And by talented, I mean well beyond his comics work. Keith’s an inspiration on so many fronts, and you’ll see why I feel that way soon. I’m meeting with him to iron out the rough edges in the printers proof, then it’s time to go to press. I’d have to guess that finished zines will arrive in mailboxes by Thanksgiving.
Heroes Now 5 is close to completion. I just need one more story to come in, then I can get it buttoned up for publication. The rest of the zine is basically finished, so turnaround will be fast.
I just started work on Strange Times 7 last week. This is going to be a longer-term gestation as I want to do the entire thing solo. I know that my writing and production skills far outpace my art skills, but the challenge is something that I want to take on. Don’t expect anything on this until 2nd Quarter 2025.
But what about that “kind word” mentioned in the title? I occasionally receive comments on FANzine Live videos, and this one came in over the weekend:

Talk about a nice comment! It’s flattering to receive such encouragement.
So with that little attaboy to kick off the week, I’ll sign off and get back to work. That is, once the dogs get off my lap.
Have a great week! Thanks for your support, and have fun making and reading zines!
