FANzine Live: Week of August 17-23

Normalcy (h/t to President Harding) is coming back! School is in session, fall routines are starting to shake out. The chaos of summer is almost entirely past. We can breathe once again! So why not check out the latest FANzine Live video recaps?

The Phoenix Spotlight kicks things off with a passion project of mine, Strange Times #3. Matt Levin’s work is just brilliant. He plays at a level with which I am not entirely familiar yet sit in awe of every page he produces. I am so pleased to have helped share his story.

For New Releases, it’s Bata by Jim Cheff. A total surprise, someone who saw FANzine Live and asked, “Hey, could I share my books?” What a treat! And why aren’t more zine creators using the format to make children’s books and stories?

We’ll wrap up with another “in from left field” video. Classic Zines overviews Larned Justin’s Out of the Blue #2 (and looks at a lot more than that). I can’t use the obvious “out of the blue, this arrived” joke because I’ve used it already and have a moratorium on duplication of obvious jokes. That said, Larned had a darned impressive zine running back in the day.

And thus ends another week at FANzine Live. I’d love to add in a couple more videos, but those have to wait til next week to ensure chronological consistency.

Thanks as always to everyone for watching, reading and sharing the comics and zine love. Make sure to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!
