“Talking Small Press Comics” really liked STRANGE TIMES #3

Most all small press comics and fanzines are labors of love. We don’t make them to get rich; we get them to share ideas, to scratch creative itches. That is SO true in the case of Strange Times #3. Matt Levin’s work is entirely different than anything in comics (big press or small, doesn’t matter), and he’s been doing it so well for so long. It deserved a large presentation, an immersive experience for the reader.

But being so different, I didn’t know how the wider world would take Matt’s Walking Man Comics in a giant dose. Folks, we now have our first opinions rolling in…and they’re GREAT.

A clip of “Talking Small Press Comics”, starting at the review of Strange Times #3

Larned Justin and Steve Keeter saved their review of Strange Times #3 on their latest Talking Small Press Comics” YouTube show for last, but that clearly was no reflection of their opinion. In fact, they spent a lot of time on it…taking in the unique creative environment that Matt creates with his lyrical prose and rubber stamp art…and appreciated the book just as I hoped people would. Take a few minutes to watch for yourself.

Simply put, mentions like these make the six-ish months of work in making the zine worthwhile. This was a very special book (both to Matt and me), and the review gets it.

Strange Times #3 is available in PDF form at the Phoenix Productions Gumroad store, or it can be purchased in physical form via the Order tab above. Give it a try! It’s worth the look.
