I love holiday cards. I know that they’re increasingly out of vogue, what with social media and all removing the need to send that annual update (with kid pictures — “Oh, how Johnny has grown!”). Still, I enjoy those annual reminders that friends remember and care enough to send you a little extra joy during the holiday season.
This year, I was fortunate enough to get a few small press-related cards! Dale Martin of Smeary Soapbox Press (and original Patriot inker) sent a great Krampus card. Kurt Erichsen sent a fun mini-comic strip spoofing the underwear that guys get for Christmas every year. And just today, Steve Keeter told a tale of his Mighty Beacon character playing in the snow! All appreciated and enjoyed. Thanks, guys!
My holiday card to everyone is HEROES NOW #3. From The Light sporting a Santa cap on the cover as drawn by David Baf Gallart to the terrific holiday pinups from Tom Ahearn, David Tryzenski, Teri Sue Wood and the back cover by John Muller, there are holiday images a-plenty! And of course, don’t forget the lead-off story, “Holiday Lights,” featuring The Light by myself and Rob Cooley — a throwback to the fun holiday shorts of my youth.
