The holy grail of Comics Crowdfunding: Carbon & Silicon and Shangri-La

I just received this crowdfunding package from Magnetic Press last week and only started to fully digest it all. But I gotta tell you, Mathieu Bablet’s stories – which I read in digital form back in November – are brilliant on every possible level. Take away the 10″ tablet and replace it with luxurious, oversized, hardcover editions and you have something that every single crowdfunder can only dream of.

And fortunately for me, someone else did an in-depth video review. Take it away, Mitch…

I did not order the slipcover package, so my books sit in different locations on my shelves. That’s fine by me because they are two entirely different stories tied together only by the fact that they have the same single creator.

In addition, my versions don’t have the silver and gold painted edges on the paper. No biggie — the books are functionally the same, and it’s what’s on the page that matters. And what you see in the video from that perspective is exactly the same as what I have: gorgeous white paper, brilliant colors and blacks…and two 200+ page stories that will blow you away.

If your local comic shop can’t get you a copy of either book (and I recommend both), you can get Carbon & Silicon here and can get Shangri-La here. I’m not collecting a dime from these endorsements and links…just telling you that you’re missing out if you don’t at least read the stories.

Seriously, I cannot recommend this work highly enough. Bablet has produced genius-level work in my estimation.

Enjoy!
