The waiting is the hardest part

And so it begins.

All of the copies of Heroic: Heroes Past that were intended to be mailed have been mailed and are winding their way to the houses of contributors, United Fanzine Organization members, reviewers, customers and a few extra friends.

Now, I wait.

I’m usually not so antsy about feedback on my books. They’re vanity projects – things that interest/amuse me, creative itches that I want to scratch. But this, while most certainly a vanity project as it reprints long-out of print small press books, represents a big old slice of me. And while I know it’s not my best work ever (I was 16-17 when I wrote most of these stories, and I’ve improved just a bit in the 30+ years since!), this is my personal history. This is ME. And I’ve just sent it out all over the continent for friends and strangers alike to read.

I really hope people will like it. I know they’ll like the art, but the stories and scripting feels less certain.

The USPS indicates that the books will arrive in most mailboxes by Monday, setting up an interesting weekend.

Until judgement is rendered, I wait.
